Dr. P. L. Sclater2

My dear Sclater

I am preparing my chief articles, reviews &c. for separate publication. Among them is one on "Monkeys — their Structure, Affinities, and Distribution", and I write to ask whether the Council would allow me to have clichés of some of their numerous woodcuts of the gr species to illustrate it. The cuts of Cercopith Cercopithecus Pluto and Brachyurus onakari in the "List" of vertebrates in the Gardens of 1879, would be very suitable, are there are doubtless [2] many more in later lists and in the Proceedings.

Should the council give permission will you be so good, if you have them, to send me a set of proofs of cuts of the Quadrumana to choose a few that are most suitable.

Believe me | yours very truly | Alfred R. Wallace [signature]
