Rosehill, Dorking.
August 12th. 1876
Dear Sir
I regret that I am quite unable to undertake one of the evening Addresses at the Brit[ish]. Ass[ociatio]n., —, as I am behindhand with the Address I have to preface as President of Sect[ion]. D.
Having had very little experience in lecturing, it is quite impossible for me to extemporise an Address, and I have nothing suitable in preparation.
Yours very faithfully | Alfred R. Wallace [signature]
