Dear Sir

I have not seen the "Times" on Darwin;2 but, from the extract you give I think the writer must be Dr. F. A. Bather3 of the Nat. Hist. Museum, who I know writes the Biological articles for the "Times", and whose ideas are very vague, and often founded— as this one seemed to be— on an "If".
