Pen-y-bryn, St. Peter’s Road, Croydon.

Sept.[embe]r 12th. 1880

Dear Dr. Norris

I think I can undertake what the Secretary proposes, but I should prefer it if he could arrange a somewhat earlier date.

I did not know that [one word illegible] or mesmerism had been discussed at Cambridge, but I have just read Romanes’1 short article on the Nineteenth Cent[ury] [.] Romanes is also enquiring with Spiritualism [2] and declares he will make public whatever facts he arrives at. Have you seen [name illegible] book translated by Massy? Such a work ought to produce an effect.

Yours very faithfully | Alfred R. Wallace. [signature]
