My dear Mrs Dresser

I write to thank you for your kind hospitality in making my visit to London so pleasant and comfortable. Please thank Mr. Dresser1 also for his kind attentions during our little visits.

We got home very comfortably having a carriage to ourselves all the way, & with our tea basket [2] and wraps were quite jolly; and to day I feel none the worse so far. I feel quite relieved that the ordeal has been passed & that I did not break down.

Believe me | yours very truly | Alfred R. Wallace [signature]

P.S. I shall be very much obliged if you can obtain for me from your daughter or her husband some particulars [3] as to the extent of real virgin forest in their vicinity — whether there are many orchids there, and abundance of fine butterflies. Also details of the climate. I see Stee[?] Maria on my map. Was that the name?
