I beg to state that Mr. Charles Dixon1 has been a life-long student and observer of nature. He has published more than twenty-five volumes on the various phases of bird-life, and those on "Migration" and on "Bird's Nests" are very interesting and valuable contributions to the scientific study of Ornithology.

Notwithstanding this great literary output, the result [2] of lifelong observation study and research he has not been able to secure himself from penury, and he therefore seems to be a fitting subject for relief from the Royal Literary Fund.
