My dear Will
I am sending your clothes scientifically folded & packed! They seem A.1.
After elaborate revision & correction I have sent my Mss. of the little "Mars" book to Macmillan’s yesterday, & have asked for 3 proofs, as Prof. Poynting1 has promised to read the chapter with my new theory of Mars.
Will you read the whole [2] proofs carefully, in the character of the "intelligent reader"? Your fresh eyes will detect little slips — bad logic — too positive statements &c. which I may have overlooked. It will only be about 100 or 150 pages large type — & I want it to be really good, & free from blunders than any fool can see.
Yours affectionate Pa | Alfred R. Wallace [signature]
