Dear Mr Wallace
The enclosed interesting letter from my father1 must I think have been lent by you to somebody or perhaps lost in some other way. I saw it in a book list and managed to get it[.] [2] As I know you would like to have it with your others I return it, and I should be glad to know if I may publish it[.] I am preparing a volume of purely scientific letters and find it even more difficult than choosing the ones for the Life & Letters [3] — I hope you are continuing well —
With kind regards | Yours v[er]y truly | Francis Darwin2 [signature]
