Dear Mr Wallace

In the Geogr[aphic] Distr[ibutio]n Chapter in the new volumes of my father's1 letters I am inclined to give rather fully the correspondence with you about your book on Geogr[aphic] Dis[tribution] — beginning with a reprint of the one in the Life & Letters. Will [2] you be so kind as to read them over the enclosed ones and then tell me frankly if you have any — the least objections to their appearing —

In any case can you help me over the letter CD to ARW June 17.[18]76. I want a note 2 as to the modification of your views on africa [sic] — could you kindly write a few lines? If you happen to know which [3] paper of Blandford2 is referred to under 4 I should be glad to know. But do not let that be a trouble — I can easily find it.

Lastly I do not understand my own note "p 6 is lost" — whether it was a particularly bad way of expressing that the original letter stopped there was incomplete — or the whether I have lost a page of the copy — which is the obvious meaning. If you have the letters in a get-at-able place — would you be so very kind as to let me see this one again? [4] I have also sent you a letter of my father's to Hooker3 in which he seems to me rather unfair to you. At * p 1058 is it just to speak of your ignoring [sic] [1 word illeg.] the all powerful effects &c[.] I have written in note 2 — should be glad of criticisms on it — or better still a new note on this or on my father's remarks generally. I send your letter Jan 1.[18]81 not that I want to publish it but that you may see what you said[.]

If you can help me over these matters I shall be very grateful | Yours truly | F[rancis] Darwin [signature]4
