Dear Mr Wallace

Many thanks for your kind letter and for notes which are just what I want[.] I am so sorry you should have had the trouble of hunting for the letters. It is horrible [2] that I have got these[?] as I am not very business like — but I did keep a record of letters sent to me for this new book & these do not occur there[.] I am just going away for a week — when I come back I will [3] make sure. I shall anyhow have to go over a good many papers to look out for omissions[.]
