Dear Wallace

Where was it that you wrote a paper advocating lenient dealings with the inferior races, with a view to their preservation and civilization? I ask the question because I contemplate giving Dr Bridges1 a castigation for the unwarranted sneer at the close of his article in the Fortnightly.2
