My Dear Wallace
In your "Island-Life" which I am studying at present, there is an awkward mistake at p. 322-3. Salmo Killinensis is not Irish, but from Loch Killin in Inverness-shire, to which locality it seems to be confined. I visited the spot myself, & examined its depth and bottom.
[2] Some of the fish in the B[ritish] M[useum] were caught on that occasion by myself and a friend who accompanied me.
I just received a letter from a correspondent on the same subject; and I think you should correct the error by a few lines to "Nature".
I have recently put my ideas on the distribution of Fishes in print; & [3] send you a copy of the book tomorrow.
Yours very truly | A Günther [signature]
