I did not acknowledge your kind and pleasant response to a former letter of mine, thinking that superfluous. But you may permit me to express my gratification at seeing the announcement that your Government1 is showing some sense of the value of your contributions [2] to Natural Science in the only way, perhaps, just now open to it.
