Dear Sir,

I am reading with great delight your recent work, "Island Life"1 —

As you say, (page 323) in speaking of British fresh-water fishes that [2] the vendace is only known from Lochmaben in Scotland, I think it may not be uninteresting to you to know that there is a specimen of this rare fish in the Museum of Local Natural History at Keswick, which was caught in Derwentwater & which I believe, is not the [3] only one which has been taken there. I do not know of its having been found in any other of our Cumberland Lakes.

Dr. Knight, Keswick,2 the Hon: Curator of the Museum would be able to give you any further information, you might desire.

I

With many apologies for [4] thus troubling you,

I beg to remain | yrs faithfully | E. Anna Clifton Ward3 [signature]
