Dear Dr. Russel Wallace,

The Committee and members of the Ethological Society, of which you are one of the Founders and Vice-Presidents, desire me to convey to you their congratulations and hearty good wishes on the attainment of your 90th. birthday.

To this I should like to add my personal good wishes, being indebted to you for a great deal of encouragement in the work I have undertaken,

1. to prove the localisation of the functions of the brain and rehabilitate the phrenological doctrine, 2. to prove the truth and practical value of hypnotic suggestion. In both these fields of investigation I have now achieved considerable reputation and success, and I have to thank you for it, for it was your interest and sympathy for my work that gave me the necessary courage to overcome the obstacles raised by popular prejudice. Hoping you enjoy further good health, believe me, Yours sincerely, | Bernard Hollander [signature]
