11 July 1867

My dear Sir,

I feel obliged by your Note of the 9th. Inst[ant]1 in which you make me an offer of your private collection of Cetoniadae for £50.

My only objection to making the purchase is that I no doubt already possess the bulk of the species, for my collection of this, my favorite group, is very extensive, containing 635 species, and I regularly bought from Mr Stevens2 all the species which you placed in his hands during your residence in the East. —

Still I think the rarer [2] and unique species ought to be added to my cabinet and I therefore accept your offer. — I take it for granted that the species have all names attached to them and that you will not be longer in delivering them than you can avoid consistently with printing the catalogue and drawing the figures.

I return the lists as you desire— I have copied them for my own use.

I remain | my dear Sir | Yours very faithfully | J Aspinall Turner [signature]

Alfred R Wallace Esq
