Dear Sir

Could you find time to write me an article for our forthcoming No on the following subject, "The influence of domestication on animals." What I want is a paper on the subject [1 word illeg.] in Mr. Darwin's book1 (either out or nearly ready) and shewing2 that the theory of the origin of species to which you & Mr [2] Darwin3 may equally lay claim is supported by the argument deduced from the practice of artificial selection— The paper should not extend beyond 9 pp. and M.S.S. should be in my hands not later than Dec[embe]r 1st — We pay on completion £8.8 per sheet.

Faithfully yours | Henry Lawson [signature]
