DEPARTMENT OF BOTANY

IOWA STATE COLLEGE OF AGRICULTURE AND MECHANIC ARTS

AMES, IOWA

Jan 17, 1912.

Dr. Alfred R. Wallace,

Old Orchard, Broadstone,

Dorset, England.

My dear sir:

Your esteemed favor of November 20, 1911, at hand.

I am very sorry, indeed, that the plants which you mentioned I cannot obtain this season, but I have the promise of seeds of Dioenea and the Primulas, which I can get for you next year. I have somebody on the hund [hunt] for them and shall be glad to send them to you when I get them.

We do not have the Dioenea or Drosera in the this state. We have one little species of Primula, but this is a rare and local plant on the Iowa River, in the vicinity of Iowa Falls.

I can get some old seed of Primula Parryi, but I am afraid this would not grow. This is one of the most beautiful of the Rocky Mountain plants.

Yours truly, | L H Pammel2 [signature]
