Mr. Alfred Russel Wallace,

London, England.

My dear Sir:—

We were more than delighted to get your article on white men in the tropics, and I want to thank you heartily for it. It has created a great sensation here in this country and already the best papers in the land have noticed it editorially or printed extracts from it. I ordered a check to be sent to you last week and the papers, as you directed.

By the way, I wish you would not let this be the last time you will write for us, and in the near future if you have anything you would like to say, be sure and let us have it.

Yours very truly, | Hamilton Holt [signature]

Office Editor.
