I have great pleasure in stating that I have known Mr Alfred Wallace for many years & in bearing testimony to his qualification for the post of Superintendent of Epping Forest. As a [1 word illeg.] man I can state that Mr Wallace possesses the [2] [1 word illeg.] requirements as a surveyor, & beyond that he has rare qualifications in dealing with forest & landscape to which he has devoted special attention. His long experience in the conduct of surveys & expeditions puts him in a special position [3] for conducting under the Commissioners the management of Epping Forest, so as to give satisfaction to the public & due credit to the Commissioners & the citizens of London
