You can hardly have been more disappointed than I was at the <postponement?> of your article. <It> was [illeg.] at the [illeg.] the house that I was compelled to keep it over for my <January> no:— in which — (for my own sake quite as much as for the author's) I have already definitely placed it.
Pray believe that nothing but <weeping> has caused my delay & please do not let it <prejudice> any [illeg.] of other kind help from your hands.
