My dear Sir
I have been a good deal away from house — in Melbourne and elsewhere — since your last letter arrived, or sh[oul]d have written sooner [2] sooner[sic] to thank you for your 'carte' which I am very glad to possess.
The "fire-weed" is a senecio probably S. Australia's. I have never seen the plant except where it has grown after a fire & the stronger the fire the thicker the plant [3] grows — I am sorry the bulbs arrived in such bad condition I hope to mark out some more this year & will be more careful in packing them.
With kind regards | I remain | Yours very faithfully | E. D. Atkinson [signature]
