18 Aug. 1874

My Dear Sir,

I found y[ou]r letter of the 9th. inst.1 on my return from a holiday in the north2 on Saturday even[in]g. —

The best "[2 words illeg.]" of Galapagos vegetation you will find I think in N. J. Andersson's3 Memoirs. — In the Linnaea, vol. XXX1. [2] (1861-62) p. 571.4 is a general essay upon it. His fuller memoir. with descriptions, plates etc.[?] forms part of the Report on the Nat. Hist[or]y. of the [one word crossed out] "Eugeniès" expedition5. I am not quite sure[?] if this were published separate[l]y or as part of the 4to[?] News. of The Stockholm Acad[emy]6: [3]7 I imagine the report in the "Linnaea"8 will answer y[ou]r purpose.

beg truly[?] yours | D Oliver [signature]
