My dear Sir,
I have just had the pleasure of receiving your letter of Feb 15th, and will do my best to assist you to the seeds. Unfortunately we are now in the first cold days of winter, so the time for collecting is past. I have, however, a few species that I collected in Jan — Feb. near the baths of Laugarnes[?] and will try to forward by next mail. You are quite right in stating that there is a parcel post to Chile, but there is no way of prepaying letters or parcels to England and I do not know what will be the fate of a parcel posted unpaid. I will enclose to Dr. Hooker or someone else, as I have to send off some things
I believe that I had the pleasure of seeing you several times during my late visit to London, and I believe I first had the pleasure of meeting you at the Entomological Club reunion at Pascoe’s house [2] in 1864.
Should you need any information on the Mammals or birds of Chile I shall be most happy to forward you lists with notes. I hope, before the end of this year, to publish a complete list of our Vertebrata. But at present I have much to do
I should be delighted with any duplicate Hemiptera that you may have to spare, and will if you wish, send you insecti[?] or birds of this country in exchange.
in great haste | Yours most truly | Edwyn C. Reed [signature]2
