Letter (WCP2370.2260)

[1]1

Studley Royal

Ripon.

17. Sept. 1878

Dear Sir,

I have had much pleasure in signing the shorter of the two memorials,2 which accompanied your letter3 of the 14th inst., & I hope that you may be successful in obtaining the appointment, which you are now seeking, & for which I am confident [2] that you are well qualified.

I would have been very happy to have signed the longer memorial, but as it mentions facts to which I could not speak of my personal knowledge, I thought that I had better not do so.

Yours faithfully | Ripon4 [signature]
