In reply to your enquiry,1 I beg to state that my note referred to your arguments as regards Salurria & artemia, & especially to the paragraph on p. 664,2 beginning "Professor Lloyd Morgan" & ending "variation".

I need hardly disclaim any imputation of conscious or intentional special pleading, having, like all biologists must have, a high respect & admiration for your work.
