24. IV. [19]12.

Dear Sir

The Director requests me to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of April 21st. enclosing flowers of a Beschorneria. We find the flowers are not those of B. Wrightii which has very hairy flowers but probably belong to B. hacheata[?], Jacobi, a species figured in The Botanical Magazine X. 6641. —

As to your suggested treatment of the Doryanthes our curator thinks it may not be very wise. — We are sorry that it is now too late to send you any Alpine plants [2] but we could no doubt send you some in the autumn should you wish to have some then and if you will write again we will do our best to help you[.]

I am | Yours very truly | Arthur W. Hill [signature] | Ass[istan]t. Director
