Almondsbury

Dear Sir,

The letter I sent you some years ago were I think Manonia Bonkeri[?]. I identified it in the Kew Herbarium 2 years ago — no one I think has the herb in England so if you can ascertain the fate of the one I sent you it would be interesting — I sent one to Mr. Ware but he lost it. It was my brother who named all my hepatica by careful [1-2 words illeg.] — when I tell you that an application of the inch measure this year showed me that nearly [2]3 every bloom was one 1diagram inches & often 50-60 blooms out[?] on a plant — you may imagine what a delight mine are — scarcely 2 alike — & about 360 plants A. vitifolium — & A. vitifoli rather this latter[.] I have fine seedling plants 18 inches high to give away — the forms I have only seen at Canon Ellacombe. Bitte[?] ask him for seed — it is a very delicate lilac blue — I mean to get one from him this year. My plants are from my seed-garden here — where (allium) blooms properly and is quite indifferent to frost.

Yours truly | C O Miles[signature]
