Letter (WCP2557.2447)

[1]

5. City Road, Chester.

April 7th 1876.

Dear Sir

I trust you will take the trouble to read this letter to the end, when I inform you that it is on 'Spiritualism' and that the spirit of "St. Peter" advised me to make public the account of my séances and also advised me to write to you. I think these are the reasons. I asked him if he would settle biblical questions for me. He promised at my 20th séance, he would write or cause other spirits to write, full explanations of my questions. (I have now had 3 out of the 20, and he said I was to have 3 a week.) These explanations would be useful no doubt, especially to spiritualists. I have no doubt that St. Peter would not have told me to write to you, without knowing that you would answer, but as I am but an inexperienced medium [2] My spirits are.

names earthly callings. sympathetic link.
1. St Peter. (the apostle.) (not yet discovered)
2. John Haydn (musician) (passion for music)
3. Ruth Goodyet. (quakeress)

(method, kindness

gentlemanliness)

4. George Keats (gumption)
6.*Thos. Paine (the atheist) (atheism)
7. Bob Fopskil. (Cambridge student) (fun & humour)

*T. Paine, I am told is now gone away from me as I now no longer deny my God. I think St Peter has taken his place because, like him (St Peter) I first denied my God, but now worship Him.

Haydn has promised (at my 27th séance to play some of his own compositions on the piano. At my 17th phenomena will occur. At my 20th spirit hands will appear & write answers to my questions. At my 47th the spirits will bring ‘gems’ upon the table (which I may keep). Ruth has told me that if I have my photo. taken 7 times, and at the 7th will each time that her spirit may be photo’d with mine. Upon the 7th it will come out (with mine.) Upon my return to Cheltenham I mean to invite clever and well known gentlemen to attend my séances, and to give me letters proving the actual occurrences at the séances. If you have any advice to give or questions to ask I shall feel grateful in one case, and willing to satisfy in the other.

April. 7th 1896.

[3] You will understand my requesting the pleasure of an answer on this subject. (I allude to your interesting yourself in making public the phenomena that will occur —

and many strange &, I think, new ones have been promised.)

Hoping to receive an early & favourable answer I remain

Yrs truly | George T. Tickell1[signature]
