Aug[ust] 30. 1878
Dear Sir
Will you pardon my writing you on subject in which I take a great interest but an interest which at present extends no farther than to that which belongs to enquiring — I mean Spiritualism.
I have for a long time investigated the subject [2] but the results have not been satisfactory. I am told that you say it only requires perseverance and patience for anyone to become convinced. I should like immensely to hear your views on the matter — and if you have published anything upon it will ask you to send [3] me the references — moreover when you are in town and in this central part shall feel much obliged if you will favour me with a call.
I am yours | Very truly | Arthur Leared [signature]
