Dear Sir

The reason why I sent you the photos was because Mrs. Swinton1 said she thought you would like to see them. They are not of evidential value for scientific purposes & cannot be shown as test pictures. But they are of interest to spiritualists who know Dr B2 ,Mr David Duguid3 & myself and they are genuine abnormal pictures.

I thank you for your remarks & your careful examination — the latter seems to confirm my theory that the form is a spirit—statue.

Of my dozen plates we had spoiled six — that is —we had exposed three pairs (quarter plates) in the Stores Camera without my abnormal result. The Dr was getting anxious about his return train, he intended specially to leave Glasgow at 5. He & I would have tried for pictures between 3 & 4 o’clock, but although we had the camera [2] and the plate we had neither developer nor hypo.& Mr Duguid was delayed at the repair of some bicycles till about 4 o’clock—then he required to get some dinner & a wash, & this priority was not helpful to the conditions of calmness for which are always desirable. I could only spare that Saturday but intended to return near the end of July & was to have more experiments with Dr. B but I was not well enough to go back and now I cannot spare the time.

Sometimes results are obtained at an improvised service which are quite unlooked for. As for instance — on Sunday night I suddenly felt a desire to call on an acquaintance who had been unwell, one of his married daughters is a medium and was there, while we were in conversation there were some knocks in the room. My friend said "perhaps they have something to tell us, let us sit at the [3] table" — we did so, my friend (Mr. Davis)4 —two daughters — son in law & myself. We closed the shutters, but as they do not reach to the top of the window, light came in at the upper part. We sat round a small table chatting & singing — we conversed with one we did not see, but whose materialised hands we felt, a newspaper was lifted and used to fan our faces, and the organ was played. None of us were in trance & none of us were within reach of the organ, the stops were manipulated, the pedals were worked, & five tunes were played, two hymn tunes — two songs— & a lovely piece of music which none of us had heard before. There was neither stool nor chair at the organ at the time.

I have no photos which are of scientific value excepting those taken by Mr. J Traille Taylor5.

I am yours faithfully | A. Glendinning [signature]
