My dear Sir,

Many thanks for your letter of the 8th inst. Just to hand The information therein confirms the view I took of your letter to the Times. I cannot possibly attend the meeting in London and have written Mr. Swinton to that effect. I have read your several utterances on the Nationalization of the Land, & am looking forward to the work you now have in the Press on the subject. Yours is certainly the only practical scheme I have seen, although [2] I am not led away by the cuckoo cry of "unpractical", w[hic]h. it is the custom to raise against anything of a radical character. The difficulty you will have to contend with is in convincing your readers of the justice of taking away from the present holders without compensation the raw material of the land which they now own. I must thank you for your offer, but as I have a motion before Parliament in the direction of Peasant Proprietary, I could not join another movement, although I do not believe that the adoption of the principle I contend for will make it more difficult for the future nationalization of the land, if such a step sh[oul]d. be decided on.

I am, dear Sir, | Very truly yours| Jesse Collings [signature]1
