Dear Sir,
I have been reading a work by Henry George on Poverty and Progress and have also shown it to a number of my fellow workmen with the result that it has amathered[?] a desire for more information as to our "Land Laws"[.] I have been requested to write to you and ask if you would kindly forward a specimen of your Lihelean[?] in the shape Lectures on tracks as we [2] know not where to get a little more information on the Subject of Land reform on the same lines as that propounded by Henry George[.] Trusting you will excuse the liberty I have taken my only excuse is my enthusiasm for Radicalism[.]
I am your [1 word illeg.] servant, | James Hogg2[signature]
