Dear Mr. Wallace,

I have just read the Report of the Land Nationalization society. I will not make any remark on the general question, as to which you may hereafter have something to say nor so shall I. But the words quoted as mine about yourself are inaccurate. I do not know what report you have seen. I have turned to the MSS from which I read & I find the words were:—

"Time will not suffer me to spark of the plan of an English man of science, whose genius I greatly [2] respect and who comes to this question with earnestness & good faith. But Mr. Wallace knows far more about the Malay Archipelago than about politics & law"

My contention was that the scheme of the L.N.S. was impracticable from the point of view of legislation & law.

I added that our own scheme was also "occupying ownership" not landlordism.

I am | Faithfully Yours | Frederic Harrison1
