I thank you most heartily for your very encouraging and suggestive letter¹ of the 3d concerning my article on "six hundred years of English Poverty"² in the June number of the XIX Century.

[2] I will to the best of my ability utilise your hints when I am finishing book on the History of Wages³ in this country.

I beg to enclose a proof of my diagrams and you will accept it for the present. As soon as I am back from my holyday [sic] [3] I shall try to get some extra copies of it and I will then send you a better copy.
