On m'a remis dernièrement de votre part un volume intitulé: Merrie England.

Je suis bien heureux de voir que vous vous souvenez encore de moi, et j’'en suis très touché.

J'ai trouvé dans cet ouvrage des documents bien intéressants, que je compte utiliser un jour ou l'autre. Mais quel est donc cet auteur: Robert Blatchword, dont je n'avais jamais entendu le nom jusqu' à présent? Ne serait-ce pas un pseudonyme? N'est-ce pas vous, Monsieur, qui avez écrit ce livre? Pardonnez-moi cette indiscrétion, mais, quand je citerai les passages de Merrie England sur lesquels je désire m’appuyer, il serait avantageux pour la cause que je défendrai, de pouvoir me recommander d'un nom connu & universellement accepté comme une autoirité en ces matières.
