Letter (WCP271.271)

[1]

Parkstone, Dorset.

April 20th, 1896

My dear Violet

I enclose you a £5 note. Ma tells me she wrote to you on Saturday & I suppose told you of Capt. Marshall Hall’s sudden death. She enclosed you Mrs. Lowe’s letter so, I should think you & Ma & Eleanor, could live there very cheaply. It would cost you about £5 each for travelling there & back. You [2] could take tea, & a stash of tinned meat &c. but you must think over it yourselves & decide soon. It is a beautiful country with grand excursions within a dogs walking.

Will had a pleasant time at Bakewell with the Clarionettes, but he was too late for either Mengnam[?] or the others, & the Bounder was not there. I will send [3] you the weeds in a day or two & try & get the newts.

In haste | Your affectionate Pa | Alfred R. Wallace [signature]
