My dear Mr Russel Wallace
I have recd[?] your young friends letter and read it with much interest. I will reply to him tomorrow, but can sc[illeg] advise him to give up his present course though I honour[?] his motive. but in point of fact the industrial man is quite as unusual & more ? than military[?] man
& it goes on all the time. The
