BARKLYE,

HEATHFIELD,

SUSSEX.

March 18. [19]09.

Dear Sir,

I read your account of the co-operative colony with great interest, when it was first published in the "Socialist Review" and you will see in this week's the "New Age" that I have written asking [2] if anything can be done to make some sort of a start and having found your address in the "Reformer's Year Book" I take the liberty of writing to you personally.

I am very sorry to find that the Hollesley Bay Colony has not resulted [3] in a permanent refuge for the town unemployed, but; I am sure, that if some individuals were willing to come forward with the capital a small colony could be made a success if worked on a business basis, beginning with a few men & enlarging as funds grew.

May I point out that Dairy Farming would [4] bring in a return for capital & labour for greater than any other form of agriculture. This I can state from experience having worked up a good business from very small beginnings. I shall be glad to hear if there is any chance of a Practical start being made with this scheme —

Yours sincerely | F. O. Loesch [signature]2
