I am a great admirer of your book on Land Nationalisation, and believe that if you could persuade the publisher to issue a 6d edition of it, it would have a phenomenal sale. I have been selling Socialist literature for the past 18 years and find that [2] it is much easier for to sell a thousand books at 6d than it is to sell 100 at 1/-. Again your book is not known as well as it deserves, and at the present time when there is a cry about the depopulation of country districts and the Highlands of Scotland. The time is very opportune for a cheap edition and fresh reviews to let the people know about such a book[.] It is the best book I know of re the Highland Clearances and Irish evictions.

[3]³ I was asking a school master re the Clearances, he said — he said he never heard of them nor seen any reference to them in any School History, or when at College had he come across any history that dealt with the subject. I lent him my copy, when returned he said it was the most astonishing book he had ever read, and said he was convinced that most people were not aware of the facts contained in the book[.] During the past winter I have been quoting from it in connection with a Lantern Lecture which I [4] got together at the end of the season. I sold a number of copies by booming it after reading the quotation. Trusting you will give this your consideration
