9th July, 1912.
Dear Dr Wallace,
In further answer to your letter of the 26th June, I am afraid that we have no Return which will give you all the information you ask for.
A copy of a Return issued last year is, however, enclosed, which gives the number of persons in the established civil Service on 31st March, 1911. Some further information which may be of use for you purpose will be found in the Annual Estimates for the Army, Navy, Civil Service and Revenue Departments, copies of which I have pleasure in forwarding for your acceptance.
Yours very sincerely | Sydney Buxton [signature]
