My dear Wallace,

Somewhere or other I have packed away a lot of [1 word illeg.] proofs of my 'Monograph of the Paradise Birds', but I cannot lay my hands on them. I think that I had better not [2] lose any more time searching for them; as I fear they have been thrown away. I think if you write to Mssr. Sotheram, 37 Picadilly, who published the 'Monograph' and ask them for [illeg.] proofs to copy for your work, they would lend them to your artist, if it was stated where [3] the plates were taken from. You could this get all the new forms Pterirophora, Calastrapia, Paradrisoris etc. They are all figured in the 'Monograph'. I would have written before but I have had influenza and am still poorly.

Yours sincerely | R Bowdler Sharpe [signature]
