My dear Mr Wallace

I have sent to the Assist[ant] in charge at Museum asking him to send you any late Reports which may give any idea of present state of arrangement of the collections.

I have always postponed writing a guide until the Pal[eontology][?]. collections are in shape. This has been my dear work and we have only laid out the rooms[?] there is nothing which could be photographed there as yet[.]

The material is merely placed in the rooms[?] awaiting cases [illeg scribbles] [2] and since I have given up the assertion[?] to give my time to my explorations, publications of the results my friend[?] have gone that way hoping others would take up the Museum when I left it.

We have not added any cases to the <photographical rooms> since you saw them[;] the trouble[?] to the photog[raph]s is due to the [1word illeg] shuterring[sic?] which is not apparent when standing in the centre of the aisle between cases & which can not be seen in photog[raph]s

I am <yours very truly> | A. Agassiz [signature]
