My dear Sir! —

For political and providential reasons the theory of evolution, even if subsequently poor & established can be carried too far. In a [1 word illeg.] of scientific accusation undubious headings as Heredity, Philosophy & otrs [others?], I have designed one under the heading astronomy in which it is my desire to present your conclusions essentially as offered by you in "Man's Place in the Universe", if you will permit me to do so.

From your later writings I have gathered that you all by no means so assumed as the origin of species as your ardent admirers assume. The whole purpose of my work is to make manifest the insecure foundation upon which the modernized theory of Evolution rests; not so much in order to introduce a theory of my own as to [2] introduce affect the increasing spirit of uninterpreting egotistic spirit of interpreting everything in nature in harmony with man's selfish aims.

Looking forward to your fortunate reply

Sincerely yours | W. Sonneberg [signature]
