Letter (WCP286.286)

[1]

Parkstone, Dorset

March 25th. 1897

My dear Violet1

Will’s2 letter came at last this afternoon, & I enclose it. Very satisfactory so far. Poor Mac seems to have been a worse sailor than Will, & just as they both got up their appetite they reached Boston. That was sad! As soon as you have read the letter send it to Hurst & ask them to return it to me soon, as I shall keep all Will’s letters in a book for his & our future references.

I caught a terrific cold a fortnight back, one of the most severe I remember. By baths & lotions & keeping in the house it has gone [2] all but a lingering cough.

We do not know what books you want as your scrawl was unintelligible just at that point.

Copy Will’s address as it will probably be head quarters for some time.

Nothing new here. I have been reading Stevenson’s3 "New Arabian Nights"4 again & think "The Rajah’s Diamond"5 one of the very best short stories ever written.
