As you are writing about Lowell's1 Canal theory, perhaps you will permit me to remind you of a very lucid and able discussion of the subject by Miss Agnes Clerke2 [2] which appeared in the Edinburgh Review for October 1896.3 The title of the article being "New views about Mars".
