Dear Sir,
In continuation of my Post Card to you of 3rd [1 word illeg] I am enclosing herewith letter from Mr.Tannock gardener &c to the Corporation of the City of Dunedin who received his training at Kew Gardens under my old schoolfellow at King's Coll: London Sir Wm:Thiselton-Dyer F.R.S. The four packets of seeds I am having put[?] up by an expert Florist & will [1 word illeg.] them by parcel post to you; they will go by first direct steamer & will therefore not arrive until some little time after this letter. I trust however they will reach [2] you safely and duly germinate- On receiving further communication from Mr.Tannock I will write you: the N.Z. Govt. steamer 'Hinemoa' has recently gone down to the Auckland Is. & may be bringing him seeds & bulbs from there.
I notice from a para: in the Literary World of 15/11/08 that you were among the recipients of Honour on the occasion of the last birthday of His Majesty the King pray accept my congratulations thereon & with renewed thanks for your letter of 19/11/08
