Dear Dr Wallace,

I beg to acknowledge the receipt of you considerate letter of Feb. 25. I have, as you suggest, a great deal to learn with regard to my new duties and responsibilities; and I must necessarily be cautious about pledging myself to undertakings of which I may not at once see the ultimate consequence.

But I shall be very glad to bear your suggestion in mind, as you wish me to do; and I will make opportunities of discussing the matter with others. I think I quite understand the sort of thing you have in your mind; and while not underestimating the difficulties of preparing these lists I can see that they might be of considerable service to you and to other working at general Biological problems, if they could be prepared with a sufficient amount of accuracy.

I remain | Yours very truly | S.F. Harmer [signature]

Dr Alfred Russel Wallace, O.M.
