Dr Alfred R. Wallace
Dear Sir
You will remember writing to me a short time ago with reference to a large [1 word illeg.] taken by the Rev[eren]d A Miles Moss in Peru.
I have now received the moth. Unfortunately it was somewhat damaged in transit but not seriously. I am sorry I am not a draughtsman, but I enclose a sketch showing the exact size and the position of the markings which possibly may enable you to identify it.
The ground colour is blackish brown, showing a green and blue gloss in some lights.
the fore wings are mottled with ochreous brown, especially along margins, and have an oblique white band almost crossing wings and a white irregular blotch towards lip.
The hind wings bear two rows of cream coloured spots.
I am, dear Sir | Yours very truly | H. J. Thouless [signature]1
