Monday Morn[in]g

Dear Violet1

The only train after 5.500 at Waterloo is the Mail at 9.45, & that does not come further than Wimborne, at 1.40 am. & it might be wet!

The only way for you to get here early on Thursday is to come by the 11.30 at night reaching Bath at 7 am, where you could have a cup of tea, & here at 11 am. If you tip the guard & get a good corner seat & wrap up well, after a good supper, you [2] will sleep well enough.

Will2 leaves by the 1.30 train to Burton, to meet the Clarion Cycling Club3 at Bakewell on Sunday.

Will went to Shaftesbury & back yesterday — about 55 miles — quite easy!

In haste | Your affectionate Pa | Alfred R. Wallace [signature]

If we don’t hear to contrary we shall expect you at 11. Thursday.

Wallace, Violet Isabel (1869-1945). Daughter of ARW; teacher.
